Ko Wairere Pene tōku ingoa

Wairere has courageously been daring to do things differently, as a creative contributor to all kaupapa she dances between weaving possibilities grounded in her Māoritanga. She works intuitively across practices including ako, wānanga, pure & tohi (ritual and ceremony), toi, and spatial design. Ideas are composed in metaphor, symbolism and the use of modern and traditional materials and methods. The role she takes as kaiako is where experiential learning and the concept of ako flourish and cultivates the inherent skills of rangatahi to action change within their communities with a focus on ‘Ko wai koe’, identity. Wairere’s creative life is guided by being intrinsically part of the real nature of things.
